Liver Vitality: Excellence in Primary Care

On the 12th of March, LiverScan, hosted a GP Education Event: “Liver Vitality: GP Excellence in Primary Care.” This was a golden opportunity to delve into the intricacies of liver health and primary care excellence. The event provided a platform for robust discussions and invaluable networking opportunities and those who attended all thoroughly enjoyed the evening.

The evening was brimming with insightful discussions and valuable takeaways. Our distinguished guest speakers, including Dr. Kevin Fernando, Dr. Katharine Jones, and representatives from The British Liver Trust, captivated the attendees with their presentations. We also extend a thank you to Echosens who supported the event and provided onsite demonstrations of a FibroScan examination to end the evening on a high.

Key Topics Included:

  • Interpreting LFTs in Primary Care: We Delved into the nuances of Liver Function Tests (LFTs) and their significance in primary care settings. Gain practical insights into deciphering these crucial diagnostic tools.
  • Exploring NAFLD – MASLD: Navigating the landscape of Non-Alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease (NAFLD) and Metabolic-Associated Fatty Liver Disease (MASLD). Understanding the implications of this new nomenclature and its relevance in contemporary healthcare.
  • Lifestyle Medicine: A Roadmap to NHS Sustainability: Explored the intersection of lifestyle medicine and its potential to offer sustainable solutions within the National Health Service (NHS). We discovered how lifestyle interventions can pave the way for enhanced patient outcomes and system resilience.

One of the highlights of the event was the opportunity to connect with like-minded professionals and experts in the field. The evening was filled with engaging conversations and fruitful exchanges of ideas and everyone found common ground in their shared passion for advancing primary care excellence.

Attendees left the event with a deeper understanding of liver health and its implications for primary care practice. The discussions surrounding LFT interpretation provided practical insights that attendees could immediately apply in their clinical settings. Moreover, the exploration of NAFLD – MASLD and the role of lifestyle medicine offered attendees a fresh perspective on addressing complex healthcare challenges. The intimate event was a testament to the power of collaboration and knowledge-sharing within the healthcare community.
